There is currently a known intermittent issue with the Search function within SMS WEB. You will at times receive a message that states "An error has occurred" We are aware of the issue and are working towards resolution. When you receive this message you will need to select a separate tab in SMS WEB and then come back to the Search tab. You may need to do this several times. If that does not correct the issue, you will need to log off of SMS WEB, close your internet explorer browser and the log back into SMS WEB. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Integrated Web Services (IWS)

Soldier Management System (SMS) is a web-based collection of data, applications, and tools to assist Career Managers and other Human Resource Personnel in supporting Active Army, Army Reserve, and Army National Guard Soldiers, veterans, retirees, family members, and other stakeholders.

To access SMS, you must have a Common Access Card (CAC) and a security role set up and approved by Human Resources Command (HRC).  If your SMS account is not used for 35 days it will expire.  Your access will be deactivated and you will have to reapply.

To login, click the Use your CAC link and enter your unique CAC PIN. 

To view the site, you must have a Web browser capable of High Security (128-bit) encryption. The site also uses Adobe Flash and Adobe Acrobat plug-ins.

If you have technical difficulties with SMS login, follow the procedures below. 

HRC users should contact their Information Management Officer (IMO) for first line of assistance.  If further assistance is needed, then your IMO will contact the HRC Help Desk for you.  

For non-HRC users, send an email to the HRC Help Desk at to request customer support.  HRC Help Desk will create a trouble ticket using the information you provide in the email message. You need to include the following information:

  • User's Name
  • Office Symbol
  • Location
  • Phone Number
  • Email Address
  • State clearly the problem you are having related to web. If you are getting an error message, be sure to provide the exact error message.
